i finally broke down and bought the special edtion dvd for moulin rouge. i watched the movie last night, but haven't watched all the extras on the second disc yet. i'd forgotten how much i really like this movie. though i'm certain a good many of the jokes went straight over the heads of most of the people who saw this. while watching it again, i noticed how much the actor who plays the duke(richard roxburgh) reminds me of paul lynde in certain scenes. and of course baz luhrmann seems to be channeling busby berkeley quite a bit. makes me wonder if any of the busby films have been released on dvd? i know they really need to be seen on the big screen for their full effect, but its not an option i have here.
