mary hansen of stereolab has been killed in some sort of cycling accident. i haven't really listened to stereolab in years, but at one time they were my favourite band. they along with pizzicato five, gave me hope for pop music. there was a time in the early 90s when i just felt music was going nowhere and maybe i'd just give up on pop music altogether. (this probably had more to do with radio(yes, even college radio) sucking so bad in seattle at the time. the record stores sucked at this time as well, and i've seen no evidence that that has improved at all on trips back to seattle.) anway, seeing stereolab live changed all that. they were so fun, and you could tell they were having a good time. it wasn't that they were perfect live, but you could see how much mary and the other members were enjoying themselves.
