quite often people will ask me about the singer grace ge lan chang. she was quite famous in the 50s and 60s for her music as well as for starring in various films. her music was used in the taiwanese film the hole, which introduced her to a new audience. it seems that i read somewhere that she was the first chinese to have an album released in the states, but i'm not sure if that is true or not. and now one of her early films, mambo girl, has been released on dvd with english subtitles. this is definately on the top of my list of dvds to order next. via the exoticalist.
