over the last couple of days more dvds have arrived in the mail for me:
- lost in space the complete first season
- tales of the city
- by brakhage: an anthology
these are dvds i originally ordered several months ago - but got lost in the mail. so they were resent and now they have a happy new home.
lost in space was one of my favourite shows when i was little(i wanted to be will robinson). so i'm really loving seeing the show again. funny to notice that in the show it's supposed to be 1997, and in one episode they meet up with someone who left the earth in 1982. dang, more of my sci-fi future denied.
we've only watched one episode of tales of the city so far. but it's just about as wonderful as i remember it. something i learned from the booklet that came with the set is that the producer for this mini-series is also the producer for six feet under.
i've only watched a few of the brakhage films. they were some of his earliest films and not quite what i was expecting. i'm looking forward to investigating the other films in the two disc set. as far as i can tell there are no commentaries along with the films, but there is a button for "remarks" which has snippets of interviews with brakhage where he explains or talks about the films. i think i prefer that to the long winded and often boring commentaries you get on dvd releases.
