yesterday, richard elfman's the forbidden zone popped up in my mailbox. a bday gift from my friend eric. it's great to be able to see this again, as i had just about given up hope on it ever surfacing on dvd. i love movies like this that feel like they exist in some skewed parallel universe to our own. alejandro jodorowsky and guy maddin also come to mind as other filmmakers whose films seem to have floated out of some odd netherworld.
