for years i've dreamed about being able to thrift in taipei, and cindy recently let me know that it is now possible with the opening of the treasure hunt flea house.

i'm not sure how long they've been open, but there are five branches. so today i hit the branches in yung he and kuting. so very nice to look through junk again. surprisingly it appears that a great deal of the merchandise comes from the states. which means you can get books(in english) for really cheap. there were some records, but nothing that really caught my eye.

i did pick up some books: isaac asimov's foundation, and foundation and earth. as well as douglas adams' the restaurant at the end of the universe. i've read all of these before - except for foundation and earth, but they were cheap so i couldn't resist. tomorrow i plan on hitting the shops in hsintien and hsinmenting.

also, in the mail today i received the last xmas present from my parents. they sent me the dvd for bill morrison's decasia: the state of decay. the package also came with a film strip from the film signed and numbered by the filmmaker. mine is number 124 out of 200. how cool is that?
